I just tinker around the shop and sometimes need a vise. I read the reviews on this bad boy, like you’re reading reviews right now and liked what I read. However, I really didn’t pay attention to the product’s dimensions. It was considerably heavier than I really needed or expected, but there is a certain amount pride that I now have when I show someone “my new vise.” They have vise envy. Make sure you have good place to install it. I had to build a new workbench for mine with 4”x4” legs and casters to easily move it about. It’s cool. Very pleased.

This vice is very stout.

I’m bending steel rod on a weekly basis.

Really heavy vice, like it needs to be.

HAd it for a couple of days, used it every day: works great and heavy so what you hammer gets all the nergy. Great buy!

Using this brings me joy. ONLY complaint is limited rotation.

MINOR complaint below. That aside, I absolutely love this vise. I 3D printed some plastic jaws for the kinds of projects I work on, and the generous space to work it gives lets me do everything I could with a rotating vise - except with the robustness of an 8-inch and ease of use of a standard bench vise. Absolutely rock solid for hammering on and larger items I've used it to hold.

My only complaint is that 360-degree rotation would make it easier for some projects, and I have made it rotate when I thought it was locked in, requiring a cheater bar to turn the locking knob. I disliked another vise which needed the locking knobs to be undone all the way for it to rotate at all past locking teeth, so I'm not sure if there's a better way which will not drive the price up a lot.
